Police: Hillsborough Man Arrested in Possession of Illegal Drugs, Stolen Gun

The Hillsborough Police Department has arrested a local man in an ongoing narcotics investigation. According to police, officers arrested 66-year-old Jeffrey Marsheal Ruffin Friday morning after executing a search warrant in the 200 block of Daye Street, north of downtown.

During the search, investigators say they recovered several items, including about 31.8 grams of cocaine, about 3.5 grams of marijuana, $1,185 in U.S. currency and a stolen handgun. Ruffin faces multiple charges, including trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The Hillsborough Police also say Orange County Animal Services was called to assist officers with securing several loose dogs on the property where the search took place.

He was transported to the Orange County Detention Center and is being held under a $20,000 secured bond. Ruffin’s first court appearance was Monday in Orange County District Court…
