The Creedmoor Board of Commissioners approved a vote of ‘no confidence’ in Mayor Antwane Downey Tuesday night, called for his resignation and took a first step toward a possible Common Law removal of the mayor from office in the wake of a vehicle crash last month that led to a charge of driving while impaired.
The board also voted to excuse Downey from Tuesday’s meeting and the March 17 and April 7 meetings. Downey is in rehab for 45 days, according to information distributed to board members at the meeting.
