Few college matchups in the early 1990s carried more buzz than University of Michigan’s Fab Five against Duke Blue Devils. On one side were Chris Webber and Jalen Rose leading a group of highly touted freshmen determined to shake up college basketball. On the other stood a battle-tested Duke squad powered by Christian Laettner, Grant Hill and Bobby Hurley.
Because Michigan played in the Big Ten and Duke in the ACC, the two programs rarely crossed paths outside of major non-conference games or the NCAA Tournament. But when they did, it instantly became must-see television.
