The Creedmoor Board of Commissioners at its work session Tuesday reviewed prospective procedures for the “amotion” process of removing Mayor Antwane Downey from office for conduct related to a vehicle crash last month that led to a driving while impaired charge and other serious charges.
The board unanimously approved a vote of no confidence in the mayor at its March 3 meeting. The board also directed City Attorney Kevin R. Hornik at that time to research the amotion process and report back to the board.
Hornik at the work session Tuesday presented a report on a proposal to “establish procedural rules for the investigation, prosecution, and defense of an amotion proceeding seeking the removal of an elected official from office, pursuant to the common law power of amotion.”…
