The North Carolina Tar Heels made an abrupt exit in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year after giving up a 19-point lead to VCU en route to an 82-78 overtime loss. Following the game, head coach Hubert Davis was asked if North Carolina needed to make a significant change in order to meet the program’s lofty expectations.
“That’s a big-thinking question. I apologize, I’m just not there right now. Just really sad that we’re not continuing to play and to move forward because I have loved and enjoyed this team,” he said. “I enjoy and love all of them, but I’ve just really enjoyed coaching this team. I really wanted this group and these kids to experience more.”
