DSG extends library hours, approves over $16,000 in funding

Duke Student Government Senators briefly met Wednesday to approve funding allocations and provided committee updates. The Senate quickly went into an impeachment hearing.

Committee updates

Senators from the academic affairs committee announced that the hours of study spaces in the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library and von der Heyden will be extended to 3 a.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends.

The services and sustainability committee launched a new “Devil’s Playground” initiative. Every Friday from March 27 to April 17, recreation equipment will be free for students to rent on Abele Quad from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. This includes footballs, soccer balls, spikeball sets, picnic blankets, frisbees and volleyballs.

The committee also announced there will be a “Blue Devil Market,” an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to acquire free produce and fruit sourced from local vendors. The market will be on April 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m…
