DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A Durham mother accused of killing one of her children and attempting to kill another last month has been deemed incapable of standing trial, court records show.
Andrea Faust, 41, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder after two of her children, both younger than five, were found unresponsive on Chartwell Court around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 12. One was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to Durham police.
On Wednesday, according to records, Special Superior Court Judge Hoyt G. Tessener signed an order placing Faust under involuntary commitment custody due to her being incapable of proceeding.
