The Carolina Theatre’s 100th birthday bash highlights this week in Durham arts

From Santana to the Carolina Theater’s 100th birthday, Durham has the Duke community covered for the arts this week.

DPAC:

The Durham Performing Arts Center starts their two-event week with a performance from Puscifer on Wednesday. The Los Angeles-based rock band is currently on tour for their 2026 album “Normal Isn’t It.” The trio combines music with visual art and performance for a one-of-a-kind experience.

Legendary guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Santana, will stop by DPAC on Friday. The 10-time Grammy winner is one of the most respected guitarists of all time. He is also known for one of the most legendary nights in Grammy history, which featured 9 wins, inducing Album and Record of the Year for “Supernatural.”

Carolina Theatre:

Greg Turkington and Tim Heidecker, most popular for his cult-classic Adult Swim show “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!,” will be in Fletcher Hall Monday night. They will be hosting a live version of their decade-long podcast “On Cinema,” where they discuss movies in an often not-so-genuine manner.

For a more sobering night, Carolina Theatre will host “Ethics, Courage & Hope for Our Political Future – Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” on Tuesday in coordination with the North Carolina House Progressive Caucus. The event will discuss former William & Mary President Gene Nichol’s new book and “how we fight back in 2026 and beyond.” The conversation will be followed by a screening of the 1939 classic starring Jimmy Stewart, “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.”…
