Oxford police arrested 22-year-old Demarcus Wilkerson of Oxford on Monday after responding to calls about shots fired, as reported by CBS17. The shooting was reported at 1114 Raleigh Road, and officers said the 42-year-old Durham resident had been struck by five gunshots before being taken to the hospital in serious condition. Investigators remained on scene interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence.

Search Warrants Turn Up Drugs And Weapons

Officers later executed search warrants at addresses on Raleigh Road and in an adjacent area. Police say they seized cocaine, several weapons, ammunition and related paraphernalia during those operations. Responding agencies included the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Granville County Sheriff’s Office, which assisted Oxford police with the warrants. Authorities said the seized items are being processed as evidence and could result in additional charges as the investigation continues.

Charges Filed; Suspect Held Without Bail

Wilkerson was charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, according to CBS17.
