Durham Tech’s culinary program gives incarcerated students a new recipe for life

It was graduation day at the Peace Center for one of Durham Technical Community College’s culinary arts programs, which is a rigorous 12-week course that program leaders say redefines the idea of second chances.

The program is designed to open doors to new opportunities for students who are also incarcerated at the Orange County Correctional Center. Each graduate carries a different story of how they arrived there.
