Pre-kindergarten teacher LaThanya Campbell of Mary Scroggs Elementary School was named the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Teacher of the Year Thursday at the district’s annual Recognition Celebration.
Campbell has worked in the district since 2021 and is also on its Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council. She has worked in education for 27 years.
“As a Pre-K teacher, you have the power to make children love school or hate school,” Campbell told the school district. “To mold them into lifelong learners and someone who wants to learn is my driving force every day. Knowing that every day I am teaching and showing love to future generations gives me a sense of pride. Helping a child overcome a challenge or learn something new gives me confidence in my teaching journey.”…
