Farley leads America 250 parade slated for July Fourth

RALEIGH — North Carolina will host a patriotic parade in downtown Raleigh on July 4 to mark America’s 250th birthday, an event Labor Commissioner Luke Farley has spearheaded through the Celebrate America Foundation and taken up by the legislature’s Semiquincentennial Committee.

Farley, who serves as the executive branch representative on the foundation’s board, said the idea originated in a brainstorming session when the board was searching for additional ways to commemorate the semiquincentennial.

“We were just in a meeting … and they were sort of brainstorming ideas of other things to do. I said, ‘Well, what about a parade?’” Farley told North State Journal…
