Proposed half-cent sales tax for public safety fails to advance without second

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA (KOKH) — A proposed half-cent sales tax has been shut down after the Oklahoma County Board of Commissioners did not second the proposal.

On Tuesday, the tax was proposed to fund public safety with 78% of the funding going towards the new jail for Oklahoma County.

The remaining 22% would be set to include funding for road projects, juvenile detention, diversion programs, and fire districts…
