OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma Highway Patrol cadets recently participated in pepper spray training to prepare for challenges they may face on the job.
“While the exercise is physically demanding and uncomfortable, it prepares cadets to remain focused and in control during high-stress encounters. Troopers often work alone and must be ready to respond effectively, regardless of the circumstances they face in the field.” said OHP on social media.
According to OHP, each cadet is sprayed in the face where they will be temporarily incapacitated. They will then need to safely place a subject in handcuffs, communicate with headquarters and continue their duties.
Officials say when the cadets graduate, they will be equipped with the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to do the job…
