Multiple Texoma counties issue burn bans as grass fires spark in southern Oklahoma

CARTWRIGHT, Okla. — Crews battled grass fires in at least two southern Oklahoma counties on Monday, a day that multiple Texoma counties issued burn bans.

Outdoor burning is now prohibited in most Texoma counties, including Bryan and Carter counties, which issued burn bans Monday.

A grass fire burned 10 acres in Bryan County Monday.

The fire happened off Persimmon Street in Cartwright. Colbert firefighters said the flames broke out just before 11 a.m.
