OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Seventeen local animal shelters are reducing or waiving their adoption fees as part of an initiative to get more pets into loving homes.
Officials say starting August 24, the weeklong initiative will kick off at the following shelters:
- Blanchard Animal Welfare and Adoption Center
- Chickasha Animal Rescue Transport Association
- El Reno Animal Shelter
- Enid SPCA
- Newcastle Animal Shelter
- Nexus Animals
- Norman Animal Welfare
- Paul’s Valley Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)
- Stillwater Animal Welfare
- Elk City Animal Shelter
- City of Perry Animal Control
- Pontotoc Animal Welfare Society (PAWS N ADA)
- Pets and People Humane Society
- Lindsay Animal Welfare
- Oklahoma Humane Society
- City of Bethany Animal Welfare
- Northern Oklahoma Humane Society
“Every dog and cat deserves to be someone’s MVP,” said Sophia Proler, South Central Regional Director, Best Friends Animal Society. “Oklahomans have a chance to build their home team by adopting instead of buying from breeders or pet stores and we’re confident that with the whole state playing as one team, Oklahoma can cross the goal line to no-kill.”
