OFS: 40 Oklahoma counties under burn bans

OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — Dry conditions have prompted burn bans across much of Oklahoma, and now 40 counties are under restrictions.

Some of the counties under burn bans include Oklahoma, Logan, Cleveland and Canadian counties.

The following counties are currently under a burn ban:

  2. Pushmataha
  3. Haskell
  4. Le Flore
  5. Sequoyah
  6. Cherokee
  7. Adair
  8. Bryan
  9. Caddo
  10. Carter
  11. Coal
  12. Comanche
  13. Cotton
  14. Custer
  15. Dewey
  16. Garvin
  17. Harmon
  18. Harper
  19. Jackson
  20. Jefferson
  21. Kingfisher
  22. Kiowa
  23. Love
  24. Major
  25. Pottawatomie
  26. Stephens
  27. Texas
  28. Tillman
  29. Washita
  30. Woods
  31. Woodward
  32. Nowata
  33. Marshall
  34. Canadian
  35. Cleveland
  36. Grady
  37. Lincoln
  38. Logan
  39. McClain
  40. Oklahoma.

Firefighters warned that when grass and other vegetation are dry, it doesn’t take much for a fire to get out of control. They urged people to avoid outdoor burning when conditions are dry and to always check whether a burn ban is in effect before lighting any fire…
