Oklahoma City restaurant raises its own cattle as beef prices rise and supply tightens
OKLAHOMA CITY – Beef prices continue to challenge restaurants. Ground beef averaged about $7.16 per pound in August, nearly 8% more than a year earlier, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
At Oklahoma City’s Sun Cattle Co., the owners say raising some of the cattle used for the restaurant helps protect them from sudden swings in beef prices and availability.
