We have a very rainy start to our day like expected. Heavy rainfall has been falling for several hours for some in the viewing area, including the OKC metro. Many areas including in the OKC metro area have already experienced 2″-4″+ of rainfall in just the last 24 hours. OKC is at around 4″+ of rainfall in just the last 24 hours. OKC has seen more rainfall in the last 24 hours than the last 3 months combined! All of this rainfall is what we need to help with the current drought conditions, but we don’t want that rain to fall all at once because that’s how flooding occurs.
Flash Flood Warnings have been issued including for the OKC metro until 2:15 PM today. Roadways are very wet with many areas experiencing flooding, so be extra careful today. Please do not drive through flooded roads! Turn around and don’t drown!
Areal Flood Watch has been issued for most of the region through 1PM Thursday. Heavy rainfall is in the forecast for the next 36 hours before we start to clear up Thursday night…
