Oklahoma City Parks and the North OKC Soccer Club have invited the community to a ribbon cutting and community carnival for phase 1 of the C.B. Cameron Sports Complex, 4000 NW 122nd St., from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 8.
The $5 million athletic complex, funded through the Better Streets, Safer City bond program, features five new rectangular athletic fields, restrooms, concessions, field lighting, parking and a new entrance on N.W. 122nd Street.
The bond program was described, in a compilation of top local stories for 2017, as the ninth most significant story of the calendar year. Oklahoma voters “approved the ‘Safer Streets, Better OKC’ referenda, and it earns a ranking as our ninth top local story.
The resulting general bond program financed by sales taxes” was planned to “provide nearly $850 million for street improvements, safer bridges, bikes paths and more.”
The package also financed new police and fire personnel.
