Farm to School Program expanding to benefit students, local farmers

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KOKH) – The Oklahoma Legislature passed the Oklahoma Farm to School Program Act in 2006, establishing the program in the state. The United States Department of Agriculture encourages schools to incorporate foods that are locally grown, raised or caught into their meal programs. The department also wants to encourage kids to develop healthy eating habits through these programs.
