ESPN apparently doesn’t think the Tennessee Vols’ win against the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman last week meant very much.
With September now behind us, ESPN took a look at how the College Football Playoff scenario is shaping up and they have a terribly misguided view of what Tennessee needs to do the rest of the season to impress the playoff committee.
ESPN thinks the Vols need to go 2-0 against Alabama and Georgia to impress the committee enough for an at-large bid.
From ESPN : Tennessee still has to play Alabama and Georgia, and we saw how that just unfolded in Tuscaloosa. The Vols need to go 2-0 against those teams to avoid a true debate in the committee meeting room. Without those wins, Tennessee will be counting on wins against NC State and OU to impress the committee enough for an at-large bid.
That just couldn’t be further from the truth.
Thanks to the Vols’ win against Oklahoma, Tennessee only has to go 1-1 against Alabama and Georgia in order to lock up an at-large bid (assuming, of course, that UT takes care of business against the teams they’re supposed to beat on their schedule).
