Police fatally shoot man during welfare check, OSBI investigating

A man was shot and killed by a Guthrie Police officer just after 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 7, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).

Authorities say officers were conducting a welfare check in the 1600 block of S. Division St. when they approached a man. Moments later, shots were fired. The sequence of events leading up to the shooting remains unclear as the investigation is ongoing. Sources tell Guthrie News Page the welfare check was for a possible suicidal subject.
