Oklahoma Flood Watch: Heavy Rain and Rising Creeks Threaten Roads Through Tuesday Night

Oklahoma City, Okla. – Roads across Oklahoma could become impassable by Tuesday night as widespread rainfall raises the risk of flooding in urban areas, creeks, and low-lying roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, a Flood Watch is in effect from Monday evening through late Tuesday night for nearly all of central and western Oklahoma, including cities like Oklahoma City, Norman, Lawton, Enid, and Stillwater. The alert also extends into northern Texas counties such as Wichita, Wilbarger, and Archer. Rainfall totals are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches, with locally higher amounts possible.

Emergency officials warn that poor drainage areas and urban centers may see rapid water buildup. Creeks and streams already running high could easily overflow, especially in flood-prone areas like the North Canadian River basin.
