THE VILLAGE, Okla. (KFOR) – A good Samaritan in The Village just received a Pay It 4Ward award from a woman who knows exactly how it feels to receive one. Debbie Bass received the award back in 2014 for helping to make Quilts of Valor for combat veterans. Now, she had the privilege of paying it forward to Kyle Taylor for helping residents all over The Village.
Kyle’s kindness began more than a decade ago, when Kyle broke out his chainsaw and began helping residents clean up storm debris, free of charge. Since then, Kyle began including his kids in his good deeds.
Like his dad, Tanner, 12, has helped out couples like Debbie and Terry Bass with mowing, edging, gardening, plumbing, and, most recently, installing ramps for Terry’s knee walker. Terry, a veteran, has been through the wringer in recent years—from a knee replacement to a hip replacement and now a broken foot. “I’m stainless steel!” Terry said.
To Terry, the new ramps are a godsend, allowing him in and out of the house with ease. “Well, I’ll tell you what, I’m tickled to death.”
An infection also sent Debbie to the hospital recently, so the Taylor family stepped in where they could. In exchange, Debbie shares some home-cooked meals, while Terry repairs their mowers…
