Neighbors upset as massive tree limb pile remains on OKC street year after OG&E cut them

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A northeast Oklahoma City man says a massive pile of tree limbs, cut by OG&E crews more than a year ago, is still sitting on the street untouched—despite months of calls to both the city and the utility company.He says neither party is taking responsibility, and he believes the problem would have been fixed by now if it happened in another part of town.

Steve Scott remembers exactly when the problem started.Last June, a powerful overnight storm swept through Oklahoma City with winds nearing 100 miles per hour.“We didn’t have electricity for three days,” Scott said.When OG&E crews finally made it to his neighborhood near NE 23rd Street N Prospect Ave. to restore power, he says they cut through a patch of trees on a vacant lot on his street to give their trucks access to some damaged OG&E equipment.

“OG&E had to cut through there to put a transformer in,” Scott said. “And about three hours after they left, I had electricity.”Scott remembers watching the OG&E crews cut the limbs down and drug them to the property’s curb, where they left them in a large pile.“The limbs were about 10 foot wide, 20 foot long and thick, about six foot tall,” he said.Now, a year later, the pile still sits—becoming part of the landscape.“If you look, it’s just all limbs, all through this,” Scott said. “The grass has grown up on the limbs. It’s like it’s part of the scenery.”Scott says he’s called both the city and OG&E repeatedly, but neither will claim responsibility.
