Oklahoma man shot by wife’s boyfriend denies shooter’s self-defense claim

EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) –  An Oklahoma man recovering after being shot by his wife’s boyfriend outside of an Edmond business says he doesn’t believe the shooter’s claim that the incident was in self-defense.

Court documents say the shooting happened on July 22, outside a plasma donation center. 21-year-old Micah Hill told investigators he shot Andres Winslow in self-defense. Hill said he was sitting in his girlfriend’s car, who is also Winslow’s wife, when Winslow approached the car and looked inside. Hill said that he was scared, given his previous history with him.

Hill said Winslow had previously spat in his face, threatened him, and even showed up at his job looking for him, resulting in Hill being fired. Documents said that because Hill was afraid, he grabbed a gun from his girlfriend’s purse and got out of her car. Hill told police that Winslow lunged at him, so he shot him twice.

In an interview with News 4 on Monday, Winslow denied any wrongdoing in connection with the case, saying he only asked Hill questions because his kids had told him previously that Hill had hit them. He also admitted he knew his wife and Hill were seeing each other.

“When I did see him, I asked him, ‘Hey, were you putting your hands on my kids?’” said Winslow. “That’s all I asked. I didn’t say I was going to hurt him or anything. How can I lunge at you if I’m 10 feet away from you? If you see the film, I did not lunge at all; all I was doing was asking him questions.”…
