Discipline plan enacted for student cell ban

A three-step discipline plan has been enacted for Yukon’s “bell-to-bell” ban on student use of personal electronic devices at school.

Yukon Public Schools recently established a new policy restricting students from using their cell phones and other devices on campus during the 2025-26 school year that starts Wednesday, Aug. 13.

The policy was approved after passage of Senate Bill 139 signed into law by Gov. Kevin Stitt.

“This has been one of the most talked-about laws for this year – not just in Yukon, but across the state of Oklahoma – in how schools are going to implement the discipline,” YPS Superintendent Keith Sinor said. “All schools are doing it in different variations. Some more restrictive; others less restrictive.”…
