OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (KOKH) — The Mayday rally, a tradition dating back to the 1880s, when people fought for the eight-hour workday, saw participants this year advocating for their livelihoods amid growing economic disparities.
Yvonne Taylor of the Lighthouse Initiative Association expressed frustration, saying, “We’ve seen the higher-ups forget about us pretty much.” Taylor also hopes to set an example for her daughter, stating, “I would like to hope that she learns that no matter what she goes through, she’s allowed to speak up about it.”
Addison Crowder, was in the Air Force four years ago.
He’s advocating for immigrants and transgender individuals in the military. “I’m trying to be visible because I do want people to ask questions,” Crowder said. “I’m happy to be alive and happy to be here, but I’m also not sitting down.”…
