ROLLA, Mo. – Southern Nazarene went toe to toe with Missouri S&T on Saturday afternoon, but an early strike from the Miners held up as the difference in a 1-0 setback on the road for SNU.
The Miners (1-0-0, 0-0-0 GLVC) grabbed the lead just seven minutes into the contest, putting the Crimson Storm (0-2-0, 0-0-0 GAC) on their heels from the start. SNU looked to respond quickly, creating first half chances through Braxton Decker and Benjamin Alimasi, before Tiago Moreira forced a save from Missouri S&T’s Cavitt Bruhn. Diego Zamora also saw a shot miss just wide, but the Storm went into the break trailing 1-0.
In the second half, Junior Duran tested the Miners back line with an effort on goal, while Aimar Aramendia kept his side within striking distance by denying a top corner attempt from S&T’s KhiBa Romany. Southern Nazarene kept pushing throughout the second half, but the breakthrough never came as Missouri S&T’s early tally stood as the lone goal of the match…
