Two top leaders at the Oklahoma County Jail are out following a major shakeup. The interim administrator resigned unexpectedly, and the chief operating officer was fired, his termination allegedly tied to a workplace violence threat.
Former Chief Operating Officer Greg Couch says his termination came as a surprise and denies any threat of violence. The trust voted unanimously to terminate Couch in reference to a reported workplace violence threat on August 14th. The board discussed the matter in executive session, but no details were released.
In a statement, Couch says, “I was recently made aware of an allegation connected to my departure from OCCJA. The allegation is false and does not reflect who I am or the values I have lived by in both my personal and professional life. I am proud of my 35-year law enforcement career. I know the truth will come out in time, and I will address this matter through the proper channels. If I decide to respond further, I will do it at a time and date of my choosing. To those who know me and are supporting me, I am deeply grateful.”…
