The Yukon Police Department announced this week the Yukon Animal Control Facility, 701 Inla Ave., will close its lobby and be open for scheduled appointments only.
There has been an increase in animal dumping and stray intake during recent months.
“We’ve had a multitude of issues with citizens going to the shelter and being aggressive with (Animal Control) staff – whether they don’t want to provide information to relinquish or surrender a dog or they don’t want to pay a [required] fee to pick an animal up,” Yukon Police Maj.
