“Summer Heat”: FBI OKC releases operation results crushing violent crime

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The Federal Bureau of Investigations announced the results of its “Summer Heat” operation over three months alongside a nationwide effort to address violent crime.

“FBI Oklahoma City is fully committed to crushing violent crime in our region,” said Doug Goodwater, Special Agent in Charge of the Oklahoma City Field Office. “The results of Operation Summer Heat show that surging resources with our state and local law enforcement partners, as well as our other federal partners, have a significant impact on reducing crime.”

FBI officials say, between June 24 – September 20, all 55 FBI field offices participated in the multi-pronged offensive in connection with “Summer Heat” resulting 92 arrests including:

  • Members of violent gangs
  • Transnational criminal organizations such as the Irish Mob
  • Tren de Aragua
  • Universal Aryan Brotherhood
  • Hoover Crips

Additionally, the FBI says investigators and prosecutors secured 46 indictments, 38 convictions, and 61 sentencings for the following crimes:

  • Homicide
  • Kidnapping
  • Child sexual abuse
  • Drug trafficking
  • Armed robbery
  • Assault on a federal officer

Authorities thus far in total say, the “Summer Heat” operations has led to 8,629 arrests, located and investigated 1,053 victim children found in violent crimes against children, the seizure of 44,569 kilograms of cocaine, 421 kilograms of fentanyl, and 2,281 weapons…
