Grocery stores, Oklahomans brace for SNAP benefit halt

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – More than 600,000 Oklahomans on SNAP benefits will be impacted if the government shutdown continues. Not only will those Oklahomans be impacted but also the grocery stores where they buy food.

Sweis Specialty Foods is a small, locally owned grocery store in Oklahoma City. They have been in business for decades.

“We’ve been around for 50 years now,” said David Larkin, assistant manager at Sweis. “We are literally one of the last of the last here.”…
