Oklahoma City firefighters battle three-alarm blaze at abandoned motel

Oklahoma City firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze early Thursday at an abandoned motel in the city’s southwest side.

Crews responded around 2 a.m. to the former Green Carpet Inn near Interstate 40 and MacArthur Boulevard. Fire officials said heavy flames were visible upon arrival.

“We knew right away this was a commercial structure with heavy fire,” said Major Amanda McDonald with the Oklahoma City Fire Department. “I knew, most likely, we were going to need more companies than what was initially assigned.”…
