An Oklahoma City metro woman who lost her brother to suicide in 2022 told News 9 last week that she started an annual Veterans Day Race in Edmond, in part, to raise awareness of mental health resources for veterans.
Jessica Timmerman, who created the event amidst her grief, said this year marks the third running of the 5K and kid’s fun run. She started it in memory of her brother Zach Brown, an army veteran, husband and father.
“Three years ago, on Mother’s Day of 2022, I lost my brother to suicide. He was on active duty in Germany– Sergeant First Class. He had a wonderful career. He served abroad in Iraq and Afghanistan,” said Jessica Timmerman…
