Suspect in Poway Firearm Incident Captured in Oklahoma City, Faces Multiple Charges

After days of intense searching and public pressure, the manhunt for Cameron Johnson came to a close. Authorities arrested the suspect yesterday in Oklahoma City, as reported by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. Johnson was on the run after deputies sought him for a firearm incident in Poway, where he allegedly discharged a firearm negligently.

The encounter with Johnson happened last Tuesday in Poway. Deputies came in contact with him after reports came in about a man firing a rifle outdoors near Hidden Valley Drive and Birch Lane. According to the report by Hoodline, despite the support from a helicopter and K-9 units, Johnson, dressed in military-style fatigues, managed to slip away into dense vegetation and evade immediate capture.

With a warrant issued for his arrest by the San Diego Superior Court last Thursday, Johnson landed on the Oklahoma City law enforcement radar. They made contact and detained him, preparing for his extradition back to San Diego.
