In a commendable act of community service, the students of Southern Nazarene University’s international management class were recognized for their initiative to combat local food insecurity. Spearheaded by the class, a food drive amassed over 1,000 non-perishable items amidst rising concerns about the termination of SNAP benefits for several Oklahoma families.
The effort, which aligned classroom teachings with the immediate need in the surrounding community, was initially motivated by the plight of a local family. According to the Oklahoma House website, this family’s difficulty sparked a deeper consciousness among the students. The students rallied the entire campus, effectively transforming what began as a simple class project into a wide-reaching movement.
