Child care providers demand answers, transparency from OKDHS in advisory meeting

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Dozens attended Wednesday’s Child Care Advisory Committee Meeting, voicing concerns to board members from the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.

Child care providers from across the state say recent cuts made by the agency during the government shutdown have left them struggling.

Emotions were running high during the public comment portion, where providers were given three minutes to make remarks to the board.

One child care provider said, “You want us to be quality, you want us to be five stars, you want us to give benefits to our employees, how are we going to afford that?”…
