Families ‘shop’ for toys at City Rescue Mission

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — The “Toy Workshop” is now open for families at the City Rescue Mission. Families who live at the mission will get to hand-pick multiple toys for their kids.

“I think it’s really being able to make them feel like, you know, their experience here doesn’t have to be negative. It can be a positive experience. It can be something that, you know, that they will remember in a good way,” said Skyler Parker, the VP of Client Services at the City Rescue Mission.

The mission starts getting donations in November and works with the community to stock up on games, books, toys, and more for kids.

“We always need more toys, but it’s been a great response. This allows us to give multiple gifts to each child,” said Parker.

While the shop is open for those who currently live there, they keep in touch with families they housed last year…
