Oklahoma City – Construction Affects I-40, I-35, and City Streets Through 2026

Oklahoma City drivers can expect continued road construction, with multiple projects affecting major highways and city streets, according to a traffic advisory issued on January 2. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation reported that lane reductions and closures will impact I-40, I-240, I-35, and various state highways. These activities are part of ongoing infrastructure improvement projects scheduled to continue through two thousand twenty-five and into this year.

On I-40, lane narrowing between Meridian Avenue and May Avenue will continue nightly. Similar lane restrictions, along with intermittent ramp closures, are expected from I-240 to Town Center Drive in Midwest City. Lane reductions and ramp closures are also in place at the I-40/I-44 interchange, with work scheduled to continue through summer 2026. Additionally, lane reductions on I-35 from Memorial Road to US-77/2nd Street in Edmond remain in effect, affecting regular commutes.

City roads are also affected by ongoing construction. Traffic on SH-4 has been shifted to a new alignment, while sections of Danforth Road and Kelly Avenue in Edmond are reduced to a single lane in each direction. SH-37/S.E. 4th Street in Moore is fully closed between Broadway Avenue and Tower Drive through summer 2026 for a railroad bridge project.
