State board orders closure of Oklahoma City charter school by end of school year

The Statewide Charter School Board is ordering the Proud to Partner Leadership Academy, an Oklahoma City charter school, to shut down by the end of the school year.

“It comes down to ‘Is this a good school for the taxpayers to be paying for, and are we getting the results as taxpayers? And the short answer of it is no,” said Brian Shellem, Chair of the Statewide Charter School Board.

Shellem said the school was put on probation back in November and was told by the board to come up with a plan to address a handful of issues…
