Oilman says existing wells make proposed Edmond project dangerous

EDMOND − To little kids − and some foolhardy young people − oil pumpjacks look like big toys, mechanical horses made for riding, but they are dangerous, powerful machines made for sucking oil out of the ground from thousands of feet below.

Mark W. McCann, the Bartlesville-based owner of an oil lease that has put the real estate development of Edmond’s Kelly Corner in legal limbo, injected that danger into his otherwise conceptual property rights fight with the surface landowners and the city of Edmond:
