Extreme cold can lead to frozen pipes and bursts

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Extreme cold is gripping the state, and plumbers say the risk of frozen and bursting pipes rises with every hour the temperature stays below freezing.

“Obviously, low temperatures like this cause your water lines to freeze,” said Ross Nichols, a plumber with A&T Mechanical.

Nichols says he has already worked two frozen pipe calls on Sunday. Luckily, he was able to thaw out the lines before they became a major issue.

“We have a lot of calls come in people’s lines for freezing, and they don’t have any water,” said Nichols. “They don’t have any hot water. So we make ourselves available to come out and see if we can do anything.”…
