Oklahoma City is shaking up its trash and recycling collection schedule this week due to the less-than-stellar road conditions. In an effort to keep everyone safe and avoid slick, snow-covered streets, the Utilities Department has pushed Tuesday’s pickups to the weekend. Specifically, residents who usually roll their bins out on Tuesday should now do so on Saturday, Jan. 31, the City of Oklahoma City reported on their official website.
Anticipating treacherous roads, despite the roads that will be challenging to navigate due to parked cars and piles of snow, the department chose safety first ― a commendable priority. Utilities Director Chris Browning cited the welfare of collection crews and residents as a key concern. “We know the wait isn’t ideal, but this helps us keep our crews and community safe while creating the least disruption possible across our customer base,” Browning said, according to the City of Oklahoma City announcement.
Monday trash collection has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28. There are no changes planned yet for Thursday and Friday services, pending weather conditions…
