Oklahoma City Streetcar Service to Halt February 1 as Bus Shuttles Provide Alternative for OKC New Arena Developments

Oklahoma City Streetcar service on the downtown loop will be suspended today, due to construction related to the new OKC Arena. EMBARK will provide bus shuttles every 25 minutes along the streetcar’s weekend route from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Passengers should expect possible delays on westbound Reno Avenue from EK Gaylord to Ron Norick Boulevard. Temporary boarding is available at all streetcar platforms, marked with signs reading “OKC Streetcar Service – Downtown Loop,” according to the City of Oklahoma release.

The new OKC Arena, approved by voters in December 2023 with a 71% majority, will be funded through a combination of a sales tax adjustment, $70 million from MAPS 4, and $50 million from the Oklahoma City Thunder ownership.
