Former OK County Jail employees’ wrongful termination lawsuit goes to federal court

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (KOKH) — Two former Oklahoma County Detention Center (OCDC) employees are suing the Oklahoma County Criminal Justice Authority (OCCJA) in federal court.

On Nov. 12, 2025, Melissa Ritter, the Chief Investigator for the Office of Professional Standards at the jail, and Tony Towery, the Chief of Operations at the jail, filed a lawsuit alleging unlawful termination and violations of their First Amendment rights to free speech.
