Adjunct teacher bill passes House Common Education Committee

OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) – House Bill 4427, authored by House Speaker Kyle Hilbert of Bristow, has passed through the House Common Education Committee.

If passed, starting the next school year, adjunct teachers must either hold a bachelor’s degree, be within two years of completing a degree program, or have at least 20 years of experience to teach core curriculum subjects, like math and reading, for grades pre-K to fourth grade.

Adjunct teachers wouldn’t be able to teach longer than five years, unless they earn a standard or alternative teaching certificate, complete the requirements to become certified, or are on the path to becoming certified…
