Woman dies, driver arrested after car plunges into Oklahoma City neighborhood pond

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Police released new details regarding an early morning crash on Sunday in a northwest Oklahoma City neighborhood that left one woman dead and the driver arrested after the vehicle plunged into a pond and became fully submerged.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday, officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to the 12600 block of Heritage Oaks Drive after reports of a vehicle that had driven into a pond and became submerged.

According to police, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed through the neighborhood when it entered a dead-end cul-de-sac and drove into the pond. Three people inside the submerged vehicle were able to exit, while one person did not.
