Downed power lines sparked a late-night fire Saturday in southwest Oklahoma City, damaging several homes and knocking out electricity for part of the neighborhood. Firefighters and utility crews rushed in to secure live lines and put out lingering hot spots while residents watched from the street. Officials said there were no reported injuries, as per News 9.
First responders: arcing lines set debris and homes ablaze
First responders told News 9 the fire started after power lines went down and began arcing, which ignited debris and then nearby structures. Reporter Victor A. Pozadas and photographer Ben Latham were on scene for the station’s coverage. Emergency crews stayed in the area as investigators worked to figure out how the lines fell and to assess which properties took the hardest hit.

OG&E sent crews to isolate the hazard, shut off power where necessary and begin repair work, and the utility’s outage guidance tells residents to treat every downed line as if it is energized.
